The Poplar Bluff Kindergarten Center serves over 400 kindergarten students. As a center, we are able to focus strictly on the development of kindergarten-aged children. From our building design to our curriculum, our purpose is to meet the unique needs of a kindergartner. We have 18 classrooms and over 50 staff whose specialty is early childhood education.

Our goal is for every child to love learning and get the very best start possible to his or her academic career. Our teachers and staff love to teach, and make it a priority to nurture and encourage children to be all that they can be. We are there to let students know how much we love and care for them, while we work to provide the best academic foundation possible.

Teachers work collaboratively to analyze student data along with researching and implementing best practices and instructional strategies. We strive for the best student learning outcomes in order to prepare our children for their future. As a building, we focus on student engagement and effective feedback and meaningful teacher interaction with students in order to meet the diverse needs of every child not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well.

We are a “bucket filler” school, encouraging students to be respectful, responsible, cooperative, kind and safe. In the morning you will find our counselor leading our children in our kindergarten Pledge during which our children declare that they will do their best to embody these five attributes. Throughout the day we teach and model how to be bucket fillers. We not only want our children to learn their ABC’s and 1-2-3’s, we want them to value themselves and others.

The Poplar Bluff Kindergarten Center encourages families to be a part of their child’s education through our “Fun Fridays” activities through which we invite parents and grandparents to be a part of their child’s learning.  We host “Muffins for Moms,” “Donuts with Dudes” and grandparent activities along with many other family events. Parents are children’s first teachers. We encourage parents and families to join us during this special year of their child’s education.
